DevFest Bucharest 2023: Edition marked by innovation, IT and networking experts
It's already been three weeks since DevFest Bucharest 2023! DevFest Bucharest is one of our favorite events when it comes to the atmosphere, the people we meet year after year and the talks brought by the speakers. This year's edition was conducted in three directions: Android Development, Flutter and AI & Cloud Engineering. And, we can say that it was the coolest edition so far.
Speakers, opinion leaders in their fields of activity, covered a wide range of topics. Some focused on new technologies, explaining how to make the right choice for us or our business. An example is “How to pick the right mobile technology”. Elaine Dias Batista, [Android Development]. Another example is the presentation “Image Styling with TensorFlow”, Imran us Salam Mian, [AI & Cloud Engineering]). At the same time, the talks also covered technically advanced topics. Here we can recall “Building Data Pipelines With Java And Open Source”, Rustam Mehmandarov, [AI & Cloud Engineering]. Other examples of presentations are “Flutter & IoT: Mastering Sensor Integration”, Alex Bordei, [Flutter], or “Building a Scalable Multi-Product Android Platform”, Adrian Cruceanu, Monica Muntean, [Android Development]). The diversity of topics and directions increased the level of complexity of the discussions, which we wanted from the beginning.
If This Is The First Time You Hear Of “DevFest”...
... it's important to know that this is the umbrella name for conferences organized locally by the Google Developer Group (GDG) developer communities. Now you may be wondering, “But, what exactly does GDG stand for?”. GDGs are local communities of programmers, enthusiasts of Google technologies, eager to share these technologies among programmers. This is how DevFest Bucharest was born: from the organizers' desire to connect and grow the local community of programmers. Here, innovators and programming experts, along with passionate students, meet annually to connect with innovations in the field, learn about the latest industry updates, and connect with enthusiasts of Google technologies.
What Was It Like At DevFest Bucharest 2023?
We really enjoyed this year's edition. Event organizers from GDG Bukarest, Codrut Ciulacu, Cosmin Stefan, Alex Bordei and Bogdan Zurac, with our help, Digital Stack, outlined the event as a true learning and connection medium: an event organized by programmers for programmers. Most of all we enjoyed seeing the enthusiasm of the participants during the event. Speakers' talks were active, and the speaker-participant relationship was dynamic. Thus, the speakers ensured that the presentations come with new, complex information that arouses the curiosity of the participants. And, as each talk had a Q&A session, participants were able to develop more on the topics of interest. In addition, speakers built their presentations to constantly encourage discussion outside of the Q&A session. Now, let's talk a little bit about the numbers as well:
- +150 technology enthusiasts;
- 18 speakers and leaders in the field of programming;
- 3 tracks: Android Development, Flutter and AI & Cloud Engineering.
Another key element of the event was the networking. We know that the opportunity to network with relevant people is a “must-have” for a successful event. And, it would be incorrect for us not to mention that the organizers were particularly concerned that DevFest Bucharest 2023 would be a space suitable for networking and connection. Coffee Breaks have been pencilled in to facilitate opportunities for knowledge, interaction and discussion.
DevFest Bucharest 2023: A Conference Focused on the Needs of the Programmer Community
DevFest Bucharest is a conference based on the needs of the local community of programmers, the agenda being created by programmers. It is, first and foremost, a learning opportunity, where industry experts provide valuable information and advice from their experience. The prepared talks were completed very nicely in the agenda, each of the 3 tracks having current topics. Some of the speakers are Google Developers Experts who joined us from various corners of the world:
- Elaine Dias Batista
- Jasper Duizendstra
- Imran us Salam Mian
- Marton Toad
- Mangirdas Kazlauskas
- Rustam Mehmandarov
And, we are glad that in completing them we have been joined by industry leaders:
- Adrian Coman
- Adrian Cruceanu
- Alecs Soare
- Alex Bordei
- Alexander Gatu
- Bogdan Hobeanu
- Dan Mocanu
- Gabriel Stefan
- Lucian Gruia
- Mihai Ciocan
- Monica Muntean
- Victor Grădinescu
It is also an opportunity for participants to link with people from the same field of activity. And, an opportunity to meet people who could inspire, mentor, or help them with ideas or advice. If you want to know more about “why it's cool at DevFest”, take a look at the interview with the organizers of DevFest Bucharest 2023 here. And, if you want to know more about this year's talks, here. This is the agenda of the event.
Final Ideas
DevFest Bucharest 2023 proved once again that it is not just a conference, but the place where experts and opinion leaders from the IT industry, along with passionate students of technology, gather to meet new colleagues in the field of programming, learn the latest updates in tech and share their professional experience. As I said above, an event created by programmers, for programmers.
This year's experience can be summarized in three numbers: +150 programmers and speakers, who gathered at a conference based on 3 tracks (Android Development, Flutter and AI & Cloud Engineering) to develop a common passion: programming (and, more specifically, that of Google technologies). That said, we are preparing with fresh forces, innovations and the best IT professionals for next year's edition. See you at DevFest Bucharest 2024?
